Depression and Anxiety

Sometimes life just feels so overwhelming. It feels as though there is a weight holding you down, something blocking your vision, a screen between you and the rest of the world. Alternatively, you feel that your life isn't safe, that there are threats coming from all directions. You feel a need to self-protect at every turn. 
Make now the time to face those feelings and move on knowing how to deal with them.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)  is a powerful method of dealing with trauma without having to relive the traumatic experience or even talk about it in much detail. It engages different areas of the brain and releases stuck parts of the trauma and the anxiety that comes with it.

Life throws us so many challenges; not finding someone to settle down with, maintaining an individual identity whilst in a relationship and having children, balancing work and life, running out of energy to keep giving. Sometimes we need the space to hear our own voices and regain the vitality we need to be a whole person.

I believe in people, and care about them deeply. I believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to explore and discover the version of themselves they are now, how they became that, and most importantly to bring out the version they want to become. I will hold your pieces for you, giving you the time and space to put them together in a way that feels safe for you.

 

I started practicing as a therapist after I had been working in education for many years. I made the transition because I saw how many people don’t receive the individual attention they need as they mature and develop. I wanted to offer people that personal space to help them reach their own personal potential. I knew the potential that therapy could provide from my own experiences. 
 

Aside from education and therapy I enjoy being in nature, writing, reading, meeting interesting people, learning, and spending time with family and friends. 

 

I am UKCP (2011175843) and BACP (00986785) registered. I hold an MSc in Psychology from Hertfordshire University and a DCPsych from The New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling. â€‹

WHAT TO EXPECT

METHOD OF WORK

 

I have been trained and use lots of different methods and modalities. I believe this is important because no two people are the same. I will work with you according to the needs you have, rather than trying to fit you into any model that I have learnt. It is very important to me that you know and feel that you are a whole person, one that I respect.

STRUCTURE


Sessions last either 50 minutes or 75 minutes. They will usually take place on a weekly basis. Sessions can take place either by Zoom, telephone, or face-to-face.

FEES


Each session is £120 (50 minutes) or £180 (75 minutes). A reduced rate can be made available to those in financial difficulty and students. There are a limited number of subsidised slots. Please be in touch directly about reduced rates availability.
